2010 Spring Festival – Surfing the Supreme V226

May 26th, 2010 ragboy No comments

So we RJ, Dennis, Chase, Farrah, Dave and Maddie had a great time surfing the V226. It had a great wake on both sides. The pocket seemed a little shorter than the RZ2 but I didn’t hear any complaints, everyone enjoyed it. I heard the goofy wake may be a bit better than the regular, but both sides were good. Watch the video and check the photos section to see for yourself. I have to apologize in advance for our intro.

The Walker Smackdown. Jeff pulled it out in the end, but Judy ALMOST made her 360, and then it would have been another story!

Enjoy.

Wakesurf Festival Shared Video

May 24th, 2010 ragboy No comments

I found this video on the wall of one of the riders, Adriana Borrelli. It was done by Chrissy Davi. I really enjoyed watching it, gave me a different perspective on the event, and makes me pumped to work even harder to make next year that much better!

Thanks for sharing, and if there are any other videos out there, email me the links, would love to post them.

2010 Spring Festival Competition – Expression Session

May 24th, 2010 ragboy No comments

This was a great session with 3 great names in wakesurfing. Chase Hazen, James Walker and Johnny Stieg. This is the first division where James and Chase went head to head, James nailed his run, and Chase faltered a bit, but there is still the Open Surf division, and Chase came back hard for that one. It was great watching these guys battle.

View it in Hi Rez at the Festival Media section.

2010 Spring Festival Competition – Surf/Skim Challenge

May 23rd, 2010 ragboy No comments

The Surf/Skim challenge is a great event, it shows up overall wakesurf skills, riding a surf board in one direction on the course, then a skim board in the other.

Special thanks to Wakeshredder.com for sponsoring this division.

Wakesurfing and Touchscreens?

August 19th, 2009 ragboy 1 comment

Let me start this off by saying I am a huge geek. And when I say huge I don’t mean girth, I mean the measure of how much of a geek that I am. I am a software developer most of the time and love all things tech and geek. As an example, I got the first iPhone the day it came out, and then the 3G the day it came out, and yes the 3GS. I don’t even know how many iPods I have. I am writing this on my 2008 Mac Pro with 2 Quad core processors, a couple of TB of disk space, 16 gigabytes of RAM and 2, yes 2, 30 inch dell monitors. I have a server in my basement that holds all of my projects but also holds a large library of movies, both from DVDs and BluRay. I own them of course, no piracy here. Not to many people can rip blurays, but I can and do and have them on a large server and have 3 Apple TVs in the house that can see all of the movies at any time. One of them connected to my 1080p projector. I can even remote all of these apple tvs, and my receiver from my iphone. OK, do you believe me? I am a geek.

Well, if you follow this site at all, you know that I also love boating and wakesurfing with my family on our 2007 Tige 24Ve. Its a great boat, and makes a great surf wake. I didn’t buy it for its geekiness though, boats have never really set off that geek side of me like a car can, or my home theater can. Until now. Check out these pictures:

Here is a bit closer, make sure you click on the image for full size, and look at the touch screen on the right:

Here is a look at the cockpit from the side:

OK, this one also gets me going. Look at the fit and finish of the interior. This has been a sore point with my tige, and others have had it, but this looks fantastic. Check out the Tige emblem:

Now all of that is great, but what about the wake? Tige says they are going to have an option of 1000lbs per side, I think setup like my boat is now. How cool is that? Form AND function?!

Anyway, in order to understand this next comment, you are going to need to view THIS. Those pictures, and the idea of an awesome automated surfwake give me the need for a package check.

Tige 2010 Boat Release: Wakesurf Edition?

August 14th, 2009 ragboy No comments

Is it true? Does Tige possibly have a new Wakesurf Edition boat for 2010? I have heard rumors of in hull tanks and wakesurf edition options, and now there is a press release.

TIGÉ ROLLS OUT INDUSTRY-LEADING INNOVATIONS, UNVEILING TIGÉTOUCH WITH 2010 MODEL LINEUP

OK, the new touchscreen stuff, with 20 boarder memory sounds REAL cool. Did you read, it even says the memory holds ballast settings. Sounds very convenient. If you notice the release says that there are 2 tanks in hull for 900 lbs total and then an option for addition bags in lockers for up to 2000 lbs. I would love to see how this works and how well it surfs. I will post as I find out more of this boat.

Here is the text of the release:

Leading the many innovations for 2010 is TigéTouch, the world’s first fully functional touch-screen control system to be used in an inboard watersport boat. Designed specifically for today’s watersports enthusiast, TigéTouch seamlessly integrates the control of all operating systems, watersports performance settings and engine monitoring functions into a single user-friendly 6.5” full color multi-media touch-screen display. Intuitive, easy-to-navigate screens and menus control and monitor multiple functions and settings with the touch of a finger. Available on all 2010 Tigé RZ and Vé models, the innovative system uses proprietary Tigé software designed to simplify use, maximize reliability and allow a wide range of user customization, including one-touch creation of up to 20 athlete custom profiles registering riding speed, ballast settings, and TAPS2 position.

Ergonomics, safety and ease of use were top priorities in development of TigéTouch, which is part Tigé’s contemporary 2010 dash design for its RZ and Vé series boats. The new dash features a clean, simplified layout and ultra-low profile to maximize forward visibility. The three stylish Medallion digital/analog gauges work in tandem with the TigéTouch control screen that is conveniently located to the right of the main dash, easily accessible by the driver and in close proximity to the throttle handle. In addition to its fully functional finger-touch capabilities, TigéTouch also features a set of raised control buttons to the right of the display. This fingertip recognition feature allows the driver to easily adjust speed control, audio and other functions without taking his eyes off the water.

Renowned Tigé watersports versatility has been given a significant boost for 2010 with the development of an advanced modular ballast system providing up to 2,000 pounds of factory ballast. The entire system has been designed for maximum flexibility and unlimited weight distribution configurations easily controllable through the TigéTouch display. The base factory ballast option includes under floor tanks with a 900-pound capacity. The Surf package adds two bags in the rear storage area. When empty, these bags are retractable to allow full use of the storage areas. The Pro package ballast option includes base and surf packages plus two independent bags in the bow.

Tigé 2010 interiors feature several upgrades and refinements. All Tigé RZ, Ve and Z1 models now feature snap-in removable carpet throughout and a fully integrated fiberglass floor system. The new floor has been engineered to provide full, easy access to the fuel tank and other under-floor components.

Stylish interior seating on now features dielectric pleating providing plush tailoring, easy care and superior durability. Tigé RZ models feature fully fiberglassed recessed interior side panels each incorporating a stainless grab handle, drink holders, courtesy lights and a 12V power outlet.

How to Wakesurf 101 – Surf or Skim?

August 11th, 2009 ragboy No comments

Sean Cummings of Inland Surfer visits the wake9.com crew on Lake Oroville and helps explain what the difference is between Surf style wakesurfing and Skim style wakesurfing. Sean then rides a board from each style and shows us some of his great moves, like 360s and shuvits.
