If you have been on our boat over the last year, you will have noticed our Surf Nubbin. Its an invention of ours, where we tow the wakesurfer from the side of the boat where they ride on. This works best on the top corner of the tower. This allows the rider to be towed out of the wake, and away from the mush, which is VERY helpful for beginners. This would sell for about $100, but I would need to preorder about 20 of them to start. If you are interested, please contact me. Otherwise, you may watch our “How to Wakesurf 101: Gettin ‘em up” video to see a tip of how to tow like this without one. Its not as convenient, but it works!
Its been a long time coming, almost 18 mos. We have been working hard to get Jessica to stand up on her own and ride behind the boat. Most kids learn a lot quicker, but if you have been following wake9.com you know Jesse is special, and has a condition with her legs that make it difficult for her to keep her balance. We are VERY proud, watch the video.
Time for a new installment to our how to wakesurf 101 series. This is a great boat activity that doesn’t require advanced skills, and is a blast for all skill levels, and great for pictures and long lasting memories. You will need a larger board, we are using the new Lakewakes “Boat Board” and you can find more info on that board HERE.
You can view the entire HOW TO WAKESURF 101 Series HERE.
So its time for the first wake9.com Quickie. What is a Quickie, well it is basically a quick contest where you submit video. On this quickie, you can win one of Wake9.com’s special industrial Camera Mount for your boat and your handheld HD camera. It works on any camera that has a tripod mount underneath. We had fun with this video/podcast, I guess we like to be stupid on occasion, maybe too often.
NOTE: No need to BEAT RJs video, its just an example of a great recovery. We want to see your recovery vids, and we will judge them apart from RJs for the prize. You may submit up to 7/6/2010. Have fun!
Here are some pictures of the camera mount and how we mount it to the fiberglass, it is rock solid. You will win a BRAND NEW one of these, minus the camera.
If you would like to provide a prize and sponsor one of these quickie contests, feel free to contact me. We will be doing them several times through the summer.
Just Use the Contact form at the bottom of this post, after the video to submit your video from any service like Vimeo, Youtube, Google, etc.
Please use this form to submit your recovery video to us.
Finally got our season started, it was snowing 3 days ago, crazy weather this year. Plus we moved, that takes a whole lot out of you, you know?
We were at camp far west, Dennis was with us.
Jesse was the first in the water, and is always proud to the be the first in. 65 degrees.

TBone testing out a grom prototype from Lakewakes. Still needs a bit of work, but mark seems commited to creating a good board.
Back on the walker grom.
This is kind of a cool pic of maddie filming. These little cameras are durable, waterproof to 3 meters, and take great 1080P video.
Maddie throws a pose.
The water was nice.
Dennis was testing a new Bazooka Board. He said Walker needed a new spokesmodel for the board. I threw my hat in the ring.
Big D doing his stuff.
Either doing a 360, or taking aim.
I think this goes down as my favorite picture of Dennis.
RJ made it out for a session.
So whitney didn’t want to go out, thought it was too cold. She gave in to my whining, as soon as she got up, she started smiling and yelled in that she forgot how much fun it was, and thanked me. Gotta love that kid’s smile.
So then we headed over to California Marine Sports to shoot some video of the wakesurf shop, and talk about the festival ( http://wake9.com/festival ) and a bit about the new Ski Supreme v226. My interview with him will be on the podcast. It was a great day, but busy, and I am still tired.
Grant on left, RJ, me, then Mitch. 2 rows of surf boards, everything inland has, several walkers, some from the “other” guys, and he is building a new rack for more. Great shop.
He is stocked and ready to go for the festival, I love CMS commitment to wakesurfing. If Tige ever gets a NorCal dealer again, I hope its here. I would feel at home here.
Here is a slide show of all pics, you can view the set on flikr here:
The dates are May 14-16 at Camp Far West Lake. Registration will open on March 8th. We are getting very excited, please visit this easy link to stay up to date, and don’t forget to check out the new wake9.com/community while you are there!
Okay, so I heard something about this event coming up in NorCal. Yes, its true. Stay tuned we will should be posting many of the details this week. Can’t wait.
You have to love this guys dedication. First of all, the guy is nuts. Every time he goes out he is practically sinking his boat, but you gotta love it when people are out there pushing it to the limit. DJ Jamez sent me a couple of Image sequences that I think you are going to like. They are in sequence, so click on the first in each sequence and blow it up then click on the right and left arrows to watch the sequence.
Photos were taken by Peter Hockman. Maybe DJ can add a comment about the camera setup.
The first sequence DJ Jamez calls his 180 lip slide:

The second sequence DJ Jamez calls his Disco Slide.:
RJ and Whitney took a tip from surfdad and video’d themselves working it out. The video speaks for itself. They definitely fumble their way through, but seem to have a good time doing it.
