Wakesurfing 201: Learn some Tricks

July 30th, 2009 ragboy No comments

Had more fun with Sean and we did our first How to Wakesurf 201 video. The 201 series is designed to teach you how to learn some tricks. The 201 tricks should be easy enough to do for someone is no longer a beginner, and can comfortably surf behind the boat. This first trick is a LOT of fun and is called The Gun Show. Its great for the camera so send me pics of you doing it!

Practice Safe Wakesurfing

July 13th, 2009 ragboy 2 comments

Over the last week, we have been working on a Safety and Etiquette video. After working with it, we realized that we needed to do safety on its own, and even trying to only include the most important tips, it took 2 parts. I think it covers some really helpful information, and I hope you find it useful for you. If we all keep promoting safety while wakesurfing, we can remove its stigma as being unsafe. Lets keep wakesurfing safe and legal for many years to come.

Keep in mind that this is not complete, and all you need to know, but some of the most important safety tips we could cover in 15 minutes. Feel free to contact me or comment, about tips you would like to see in future how to’s.

Part 1:

Part 2:

We will still be doing a video strictly on etiquette, so stay tuned.

Falling back while wakesurfing, how to recover

July 3rd, 2009 ragboy No comments

One of the things I see people struggle with often, is falling out of the wake while wakesurfing. Not just beginners, but even more experienced wakesurfers when trying out a new board, or attempting new tricks and such. We put together a few tips in this short video. Dennis Horton from The Walker Project joins us later in the video to give us his take. Thanks Dennis!

NOTE: It should be noted that although we like making up memorable names for these techniques on our boat, and at wake9, they also have proper names. The “Walker Boogie” is known as “pumping”, and the “Bre Shuffle” could be referred to as “choking up”. So you may not want to ask your new surfing buddies if they know how to do the “Walker Boogie”. ;-)
