Quick Help: Big Guys Wakesurfing on the Landlock

June 24th, 2009 ragboy No comments

The landlock can take a heavy rider, I would say up to 250lbs or so. If you are on the heavier side one thing to try is move your feet foward on the board more. As much as 6 inches to a foot, you have to get that nose down to “catch” the wave. I have used the landlock to teach many people, and I have noticed, that when someone who is heavier rides, the nose is up in the air, and they can’t get the wave to push them, or catch the wave. I usually have those people move more forward on the board than I would have anyone else ride, and it many times solves the problem. In the video is a father and son. Larry is the dad, about 250lbs or so, and Tim is his son. Larry got to the point where he was about to start slacking the rope. But you can see the nose up in the air, and he is fighting it. I think he would get going on the landlock, after some more time, but definitely this board is just barely going to work for him. Tim (Larry’s son), if you look at his feet, he was falling back, and we moved him up, which helped him learn to free ride. Hope this helps!
